Drinking Water
Water is a basic necessity of life. All life needs water for survival. To stay healthy the body needs a fresh supply of water daily. Drinking water helps us in numerous ways.
One of the most obvious is for cleansing. Our body needs to be replenished with water to flush out toxins and waste materials. As it circulates through our system it cleanses our cells and removes the accumulated waste. The average human body is between 55% and 75% water and breathing alone uses up 4 cups of water just to maintain lung function.
Optimum health and fitness is another reason we need adequate water consumption. Without enough water our bodies become tired and reduce our brain functions. Making sure we keep our bodies well hydrated helps prevent kidney stones, increased joint flexibility. reduce the severity of colds and helps avoid constipation. Those factors alone should encourage us to consume the required amount of water.
Water is an aid in obtaining weight loss. Often when people think they are hungry it is actually water that the body is craving. Water makes you feel fuller and hydrates all the cells in your bodies. Also as part of the exercise regiment in a weight loss program water is a primary necessity in order to keep high energy levels and to aid in recovery after workouts. Muscle cramps and spasms can be caused by dehydration and thus water is important for insuring proper muscle tone and activity. Water increase your metabolism rate and regulates your appetite. It also helps maintain proper blood pressure and helps reduce high cholesterol. Also if your body is not getting enough water it triggers a reaction to hold on to the fluid it has and as a result fluid retention occurs and swollen hands, feet and ankles occur. The water is not being used by the body for nourishment but is being stored outside the cells causing these edemas.
Your skin also requires a proper amount of water to keep it hydrated, plump and more radiant. It flushes out the toxins in your body that show up as acne and other skin disturbances. For a healthy glow, no matter what your age, water is of prime importance.
Cancer prevention is another benefit of drinking appropriate amounts of water. By drinking plenty of water the toxins in the body are diluted and are forced more quickly from the body. The amount of time and exposure of the toxins in the colon and bladder are reduced and the body can more easily rid itself of these toxins.
With all the benefits of drinking water it is important that each of us take the time, get in the habit and make sure we are drinking the necessary amount of water each and every day. By doing this you will not only feel better, but also look more healthy and you will also be more healthy at every stage in your life.
